After successfully completing his NVQ levels 2 & 3 in Business Administration, Adam has now enrolled at The London School Of Marketing and is studying CAM Diploma in Digital Marketing. Michael is very pleased with the progress Adam has made and is also very kean for him to further his education with EndoCare.

Embarrassing Bodies – Extreme Teeth Grinding

Dr Michael Sultan was invited by Channel 4’s Embarrasing Bodies TV program to treat the patient who had a case of extreme teeth grinding. The patient had root canal treatment in London W1 at our Harley Street clinic. He was seen by Dr Michael Sultan who is a specialist endodontist with over 15 years experience in treating root canals.

Kelly Young Joins Endocare

EndoCare would like to welcome dental nurse Kelly Young to the Richmond and Harley Street practices. Kelly qualified as a dental nurse at Highbury College in Southampton six years ago. Since qualifying she has worked in a Denplan practice, NHS and private sedation clinics. Kelly relocated to New Zealand where she worked in a hospital for one year before returning to Southampton. Kelly joined EndoCare in January 2011.

Kelly said: “This is my first role working in a specialist practice. It’s very different to what I’ve done before but so far I have really enjoyed it!”

Congratulations Nicolai

Staff at EndoCare would like to congratulate Dr Nicolai Orsteen on the birth of his first child. Oscar David was born in London at the University College Hospital on 11^th February 2011 and weighed just over 8lbs.

Dr Orsteen said: “Oscar is very calm and sleeps a lot during the day, but unfortunately not at night. Thankfully my mother-in-law is helping my wife look after him, so I’m still managing to be fresh in the mornings and ready for work. Last week we also moved flats so February has been a very hectic month so far but I am a very happy and proud father!”

A day out in Bath

I was invited to speak about problems with anaesthesia at Bath Clinical Study Club at Bath United Hospital in December. I had a fantastic time, was well fed and was able to fit in some sight seeing while I was there.

I also became very familiar with Bath Spa train station where I spent two hours waiting for a delayed train due to snowy conditions.

I also recently enjoyed a day out at GlaxoSmithKline as a key opinion leader, where I learned about their new products for preventative care.

After several months of hard study and examinations, EndoCare’s Dental Nurse Jenny Gallone has been awarded a place on the Dental Hygiene and Therapy course at King’s College, London.

“When I heard I had been accepted I was over the moon!” says Jenny, “It’s a really hard course to get on to and it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”

With two small children and a full time job as a dental nurse at EndoCare Harley Street, life can be really busy!

During a normal working day I’ll set up the surgery ready for each patient, assist the dentist closely during treatment and then make sure the patient is well afterwards. We treat a lot of nervous patients at EndoCare so I often spend a lot of my time with patients who have been sedated, helping them into the relaxation room after treatment and ordering them a taxi if necessary.

I came to the UK from Cuba as a qualified dental nurse in 1999 and have been part of the fulltime EndoCare team for two years. There’s a real family atmosphere at the practice and I really enjoy my time here.

EndoCare specialists attend first UK seminar on the new SAF system

Two weeks ago Michael Sultan, Nicolai Orsteen and I attended the first seminar to be held in the UK on the new endodontic system on the market that we’ll be using at EndoCare in the near future.

The select group of around 20 specialist endodontists heard how the ‘Self Adjusting File’ (SAF) works to clean root canals more effectively and efficiently. After this we all exchanged ideas on this in a “leader opinion session”.

At EndoCare believe this is the way forward in the field of endodontics and will be among the first group of specialists in the UK to adopt this exciting system. We are currently formulating lectures to aimed at general practitioners looking to introduce the new system.
